Grafting of Wool with Alginate Biopolymer/Nano Ag as a Clean Antimicrobial and Antioxidant Agent: Characterization and Natural Dyeing Studies

نویسندگان

چکیده

There is a continuous search for green and sustainable materials processes in textile dyeing finishing. In the current study, wool yarns were grafted with Sodium Alginate-Silver nanoparticles (SA-Ag NPs) consecutively dyed Cochineal or Madder. The weight gain of samples was measured to find optimized SA-Ag NPs initial concentration, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) used study their surface morphology. effects dye pH, temperature on color strength investigated. It found that pretreatment enhanced dye-ability, antimicrobial, antioxidant characteristics noticeably. Under same conditions, fixation dyes treated fibers noticeably higher than untreated fibers. colorfastness Madder slightly improved. results clearly showed application could be considered as finishing process promising antimicrobial activities. A very high level efficiency (99%) achieved after pretreatment, which remained 90% even ten repeated washing cycles.

Functional Dyeing of Wool with Natural Dye Extracted from Berberis vulgaris Wood and Rumex Hymenosepolus Root as Biomordant

In this study, a functional colorant, Berberine, extracted from Berberis vulgaris wood was applied onto wool fiber using the extract of roots of Rumex Hymenosepolus as biomordant. The effect of treatment variables on the color strength of dyed fibers was examined. The fastness properties of dyed wool against washing, light, dry and wet rubbing were evaluated. Dyed samples were tested for an...
